I took my vehicle to D & M for a second opinion after another collision center (a chain) said the seemingly minor damage to my vehicle came to more than $6,000, resulting in my vehicle being considered a total loss by my insurance company. I had taken it to the other shop because it was on my insurance company's list of express locations. Mario walked me through the entire estimate and pointed out things that were needlessly on that estimate--for instance, repainting the rear quarter panel in order to blend in the paint when he knew that it would be unnecessary. The estimate from D & M came to less than $3700. Had I taken it there first, my vehicle would not have been considered a total loss. If my vehicles ever need body work in the future, D & M will be the choice for me.

What are the do's and don'ts when in an accident?

· Report the accident to the Department of Motor Vehicles as soon as possible.

· Write a complete description of the accident while it's fresh on your mind.

· Have even the minor damage fixed. Letting your car go unrepaired can cost you in the long run.
· Never discuss accident details with anyone other the police and the insurance company.

· Don't be fooled by a lower estimate. You have the right to choose the bodyshop. Don't sign release until every detail is repaired to your satisfaction.

· Never allow your car to be towed to a repair shop you are unfamiliar with. Don't authorize repairs by signing a tow release unless you have decided to have your car repaired by the shop it's being towed to.
